The arrests resulted from an incident on Thursday, Aug. 10 at 10 a.m., when police responded to the DeCicco and Sons supermarket in Eastchester at 777 White Plains Rd. on a shoplifting report.

According to Eastchester Police, arriving officers saw the two suspects, Tuckahoe residents Christal Carlson, age 31, and Nina Figueroa, age 38, leaving the store without paying for items.

Additionally, an investigation also determined that Carlson and Figueroa had stolen from the store before, police said.

In order to steal the items, the duo allegedly had a 10-year-old relative take items from the store, according to authorities, who detailed that Carlson, Figueroa, and the child would hide the merchandise in reusable bags and have the child leave the building without paying.

Carlson and Figueroa were both arrested and charged with:

  • Petit larceny;
  • Fourth-degree criminal solicitation;
  • Endangering the welfare of a child.

They were both released on their own recognizance and will appear in Eastchester Court on Wednesday, Aug. 16.
